The Emergency Critical care Conference cum workshop (16th – 18th August 2025) was being organised by Department of Surgery District Hospital Kargil and NQAS District Hospital Kargil in collaboration with Department of Emergency Medicine, Jai Prakash Narayan Apex Trauma centre AIIMS New Delhi.
Department of Emergency Medicine, Jai Prakash Narayan Apex Trauma centre AIIMS New Delhi is a WHO Collaborating centre for National Emergency & Trauma Life Support Care.
The theme of this Conference was – ‘Saving Lives when every Second Counts’.
The initiative, aimed at bolstering the critical care skills of local medical professionals, provided comprehensive training in essential life-saving techniques and emergency medical procedures.
The conclusion of this workshop marks a significant step forward in the District Health Society’s ongoing commitment in strengthening the region’s healthcare infrastructure. By equipping medical staff with the necessary expertise, the initiative ensures a more effective response to medical emergencies, ultimately enhancing the overall well-being of the community.
Honb’le Chairman cum Chief Executive Councillor , Dr Mohd Jaffar Akhone inaugurated the BLS, Pediatric LS, ACLS & ATLS Conference cum workshop on 16th August 2025. He expressed gratitude to the visiting doctors from AIIMS for conducting such Mega Conference cum workshop for the Doctors and paramedics of District Hospital Kargil.
Additional Deputy Commissioner Shri Imteeaz Kacho was the guest of honour,
Dr Kacho Mohd Hussain, esteemed retired Senior Surgeon, and Dr Manzoor Ul Mehdi , Senior Ophthalmologist of the soil, were the special guests on the occasion of inauguration.
Around 46 Doctors and 15 paramedics from District Hospital Kargil and other Health centres of kargil joined the Emergency Life Support Course.

Dr Sajjad Hussain Consultant Surgeon and Dr Shabbir Hussain, NQAS head District Hospital Kargil organised the camp, under direct Supervision of Medical Superintendent District Hospital Kargil, Dr Mohd Abass.
Basic Life Support and Advanced Life Supports are not just protocols, they are the backbone of emergency care – and expertise in them could one day be the reason someone gets another chance at life.
Great Hospitals do Two Things: they look after patients and they teach Young Doctors.. District Hospital Kargil is proud to possess all those qualities.
On the First day, the Doctors and Paramedics were trained in Basic Life Support, Pediatric Life Support, Advanced Cardiac Life Support and with hands on Practical demonstrations.
The registration of delegates started at 9am on 16th August 2025, followed by pre-conference assessments/MCQS. Beside the above critical care events, there were also fun-filled events, detailed demonstrations about Automated Emergency Defibrillators, Mega-code, Code Blue demonstration in Hospital, and Emergency Defibrillator Machine setup sessions and setting up different emergency scenarios and team-up management of Emergency situations.
On Monday there was a brief sessions on Condition Specific Emergency Management of Acute Coronary Syndrome, Stroke, hypothermia , High Altitude Mountain Sickness besides Advance Trauma Life Support along with Hands on practice n Skills & Trauma Mega codes, Post- Conference assessments/MCQs, feedbacks from delegates and guests, Certification of all 60 delegates and Momentos to Guests were the main events on Monday, till late evening.
Terming AIIMS Delhi as a centre of excellence of our country, Honb’le CEC Dr Mohd Jaffar Akhone said the trainees of the workshop are blessed to learn important emergency life saving skills from the pioneering experts of the field. CEC Kargil stressed on trainees to take maximum benefit of the two-day workshop.
CEC Kargil also appreciated the efforts of doctors of district hospital Kargil for rendering their services to the people of Kargil and said that their dedication and efforts should be appreciated.
While highlighting the efforts of LAHDC Kargil’s commitment towards the upgradation of health care system of the district Kargil he said that many steps have already been taken and as result the present district hospital has shaped a state of art infrastructure equipped with modern medical facilities along with the specialised doctors. Adding, CEC Kargil said that he has recently taken up the issue of establishment of mini AIIMS with the health minister and he is optimistic about the incoming development of mini AIIMS in Kargil.
Meanwhile CEC Kargil said that keeping in view the harsh climatic conditions of Kargil, being at the border of LOC such crucial and important conference workshop will be significantly beneficial.
ADC Kargil Imteeaz Kacho welcomed team members of AIIMS on the behalf of district administration Kargil and assured to provide all necessary logistical support to make the stay comfortable for the team members. ADC Kargil said that this life saving critical emergency workshop will enhance the skills of the doctors, paramedical staff to an advance level. ADC Kargil stressed participants to use this opportunity to upgrade their skills to an optimum level.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Ankit Sahu thanked LAHDC, District administration and district hospital Kargil for their warm welcome and expressed optimism that this workshop will enhance the emergency lifesaving skills of the staff of district hospital Kargil.
